Shea Moisture Rose Shampoo

March 25, 2017

For those of you like me who are on the curly girl method of hair care, finding shampoo (and conditioner for that matter) that works for your hair and fits the requirements (NO sulfates, silicones, or alchohols) is the bane of your existence.  I mean seriously , who has the time to read and decipher all these ingredients? I want a shampoo, not a homework assignment. When I found Shea Moisture, it was like I the day I found Too Faced, Megan Hess, and  my boyfriend… I knew I’d be in love forever. But that’s besides the point.

I recently bought some of the new Shea Moisture Peace Rose Oil Complex items. I love Shea Moisture because it takes the guesswork out of your product, you know there wont be any weird chemicals in your products.  All natural! Literally, whenever I would use silicone, my hair would get hard and break off completely.  It was so frustrating for this natural girl. But that is a story for another day.

Shea Moisture makes it simple, just natural ingredients without weird chemicals that you cant pronounce, thats why I keep buying their products. So how did I end up liking the new Rose? Well the packaging gets an A+ since I love the color. But it’s what’s on the inside that counts!

The shampoo is foamy without sulfates, which is always a plus. I don’t know why but if I don’t feel it get foamy, I don’t feel like my scalp is clean. It may be a psycho thing. Did I say psycho? I mean psychological. The hair gets nice and clean but, did not seem entirely stripped after washing. Make sure to follow up with a nice condition or deep condition.

The only negative thing that I would say about this is that it has a very, very weird smell. My boyfriend was confused by it. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it was a salty smell, not floral at all like you would like it to be. Kind of like maybe bread or cheese? I can’t describe it well but it isn’t a pretty smell. Be warned. I’m okay with it because I always follow up with a sweet smelling conditioner. And I have millions of those. But if you’re sensitive to smell, you may want to steer clear.

Are you a chemical free curly girl? What is your go to brand for shampoo? Let me know in the comments below:)

Until next time, stay beautiful!

xoxo JNL
